Polished Concrete Projects & Photo Gallery – GE Mining, Perth
The Polished Concrete Specialists were approached by GE Mining to help resolve a major problem. The large warehouse in Osborne Park (Perth, Western Australia), had to repair and maintain extremely heavy alternators that weighed anything ranging from 90 to 150 tonnes. As the cranes only lifted a maximum of 30 tonnes, the company introduced a hovercraft type of crane that was able to lift and hover over the floor carrying over 200 tonnes. The problem was that the existing concrete floor was old and damaged and because of the air flowing from the craft, loose concrete debris such as aggregate and sand were projecting in the air. The concrete polishing specialists suggested an unusual solution for an unusual situation. Treat the concrete as if it were in a house or commercial property using “UrbanFloor Mechanical”. The whole concrete floor was deeply ground, fully grouted, chemically hardened, highly polished, and thoroughly sealed. GE Mining management were greatly surprised and satisfied with the performance of the now transformed concrete surface. The hovercraft hovered and the alternators were repaired and serviced.
